Mike Davis is an ordinary guy whose computer skills far exceed his social ones. His work is his life even though his job leaves him empty. When Mike has a bad day at work Jane invites him to her favorite club. After convincing himself to go he finds his impossible fantasies might have a small seed of possibility. As an added bonus Jane, Mike and her friend Billy embark upon a quest into a strange new video game called Vortex Portal.
The game entices its players into a next-level, bleeding-edge, totally immersive adventure then springs its trap. Sparks fly, darkness falls and the three awaken to find themselves in a world totally different from their own. Monsters are real, magic works and players don't re-spawn after death. Survival means escape and even that might not be enough.
